Lock Device

The Lock device action locks the device with the currently set password. If no password is set, the device can be unlocked without a password.

For Android Classic devices, this is the only lock action. No further input is required when sending it.

Whiteboards #

On whiteboards from ADVANTouch, CTOUCH, i3-Technologies, Newline, Promethean, Prowise and VS, a password or PIN must be set before locking, either locally on the device or, if available, via configuration.

The action is not available on whiteboards from Clevertouch, heinekingmedia, SMART and ViewSonic.

Unlocking #

An unlock action only exists for whiteboards from CTOUCH, i3-Technologies and Newline, see Unlock Device →. All other devices are unlocked on the device itself with the password.

From Android 7, an unknown device password cannot be replaced via the Reset lock passcode action either: on Android 7 to 10, it only sets a new password if no password is currently set on the device; from Android 11, it is no longer available.

Availability by ownership #

The action is only offered if it is enabled under Settings → Device Management → Enrollment in the Lock device row for the ownership of the device (COD or BYOD). By default, it is enabled for both.
