iOS device actions in Relution

Relution offers a variety of actions that can be performed on iOS devices to optimise device management. These actions make it possible to control devices efficiently, increase security and improve workflow. The following overview describes the available actions and provides examples of use to illustrate their benefits.

The following actions can be performed on iOS devices:

  • Add shortcut

    • Adds a shortcut to a website
    • Use case: A web link is to be provided to the user.

  • Alert:

    • Sounds an audible alert on the device, even in silent mode.
    • Use case: Locate the device in a noisy environment or draw attention to it.

  • Clear restrictions password:

    • Clear the restrictions password and the restrictions
    • Use case: Resets restriction passcode.

  • Continue in device setup assistent:

    • Informs the device that the pre-configuration is completed and it can proceed the Setup Assistent.
    • Use case: Automated setup of devices.

  • Delete local users:

    • Removes local user accounts. Use case: Remove user data on shared iPad.

  • Deploy an app from the Apple App Store:

    • Installs apps directly from the Apple App Store.
    • Use case: Distributing standard apps to all devices.

  • Deploy Relution Store App

    • Install an app from the Relution App Sore
    • Use case: An app is to be installed individually, without applying a policy directly to the device.

  • Enable Lost Mode:

    • Enables ‘Lost Mode’ with lock screen and location.
    • Use case: Secure and locate lost devices.

  • Enable or disable Bluetooth:

    • Enables or disables the Bluetooth function.
    • Use case: Controlling the Bluetooth function for security reasons.

  • Enable or disable personal hotspot

    • Activates the hotspot on the device
    • Use case: This can be used to provide an Internet connection

  • eSIM Cellular plan:

    • Updates the eSIM’s Cellular plan.
    • Use case: Adjusting mobile plans.

  • Install Media:

    • Installs media on the device.
    • Use case: Distribution of PDF or ePub files.

  • Install update

    • Installs an OS update if available.
    • Use case: A system update is to be installed.

  • Locate device:

    • Fetches the current location of the device.
    • Use case: Loss or theft of a device.

  • Lock device:

    • Locks the device with the current password.
    • Use case: Protect sensitive data.

  • Log out user:

    • Forces the current user to log out.
    • Use case: Changing users on shared iPads.

  • Reboot device:

    • Reboots the iOS device.
    • Use case: Resolving software issues.

  • Refresh device info:

    • Synchronises the device information with Relution.
    • Use case: Display current device information in the management interface.

  • Remove app:

    • Uninstalls a selected app from the device.
    • Use case: Remove unnecessary or security-related apps.

  • Remove Media:

    • Removes deployed media (PDF, ePub). Use case: Removal of documents that are no longer needed.

  • Remove Shortcut

    • Removes a shortcut from the device home screen.
    • Use case: A web link is to be removed that was previously created manually.

  • Request mirroring:

    • Enables wireless screen transmission to compatible display devices.
    • Use case: Display presentations or training on a large screen.

  • Reset lock code:

    • Reset the user’s password.
    • Use case: Resetting passwords.

  • Return to Service

    • The device is reset to factory settings and then automatically put back into operation without user intervention.
    • Use case: A device that may not be at hand is to be completely reset and made ready for operation again.

  • Send Message:

    • Displays a text message on the device.
    • Use case: Send important notifications.

  • Shutdown device:

    • The device will shutdown.
    • Use case: If you want to power off the device.

  • Stop mirroring:

    • Stops the current AirPlay transmission.
    • Use case: Stop screen transmission after a presentation.

  • Update MDM Profile:

    • Updates the MDM profile on the device.
    • Use case: Apply new policies.

  • Wipe Device:

    • Deletes all data and resets the device.
    • Use case: Preparing a device for transfer.
