Lost Mode and Device Tracking

Introduction

Lost Mode can be used to lock an iPhone or iPad to ensure that no one can access personal data. The mode makes it possible to configure a message for the device stating that the device has been lost, along with contact details for getting in touch. In addition, the device’s current location can be displayed on a map. This provides an additional option for retrieving the device if it is lost.

Important note! The Lost Mode and location tracking require an internet connection on the device.

One-time application

To lock or locate a device, it must be selected in the Device inventory in Relution. In the Actions tab, select the option Lost Mode. Here you can enter information about the contact that will be displayed on the lock screen.

In addition, the device can be located. To do this, another action must be triggered Locate device. After the action has been performed, the Relution web page must be reloaded by pressing the keyboard shortcut CTRL+R (Windows) or CMD+R (Mac). This will display the Location tab next to the Actions and show the location on a map.

Permanent application

It is also possible to permanently activate Lost Mode for DEP devices, especially if the device is stolen. The advantage of this is that devices that are reset and put into operation are automatically placed in Lost Mode as soon as they are connected to the Internet. This can be activated permanently for the device via the Relution portal under Devices > Auto-Enrollments > Affected Device > Activate Lost Mode > Save.
