Locked Device
Introduction
If iOS devices are protected with a PIN and are restarted, they cannot be connected to a password-protected WALN until they are unlocked, as the OS cannot access the keychain. A similar situation can be brought about by activating lost mode. Therefore, without a network connection, no actions such as resetting the password or deactivating Lost Mode are performed.
LAN to Lightning / USB-C adapter
This can be used to establish a LAN connection to the end device via an RJ45 adapter so that the device can establish an Internet connection and process MDM actions. However, the prerequisite for this is that the option Allow USB accessories in locked state
has been set in the restrictions before locking the device.
Known open WLAN
If an open / unprotected WLAN was known to the device before it was locked, the connection to this WLAN can be established automatically by the device without unlocking and MDM actions can be processed again.
Reset device
Resetting the affected devices to the factory settings is always a valid option. It is always possible to completely reset iOS devices via DFU mode → to reset them completely.
