QR code cannot be scanned

On iOS devices, an applied App compliance policy configuration can disable the QR code scanner of the camera. The camera recognizes an existing QR code, but does not offer the link to open it in the browser. The problem only occurs if Allowlist — The apps below are allowed is selected under List type in the App compliance configuration and the QR code reader is not on the Allowed apps list.

Adding the Camera app to the allowlist

If the Camera app (com.apple.camera) is listed under Allowed apps, Relution automatically adds the QR code reader (com.apple.barcodesupport.qrcode). The Camera app is added in the Select an app dialog via the source iOS System or built-in app as Camera. In this case, no manual entry for the QR code reader is required.

The same applies to the Allowed App Bundle IDs list in the Restrictions configuration.

Adding the QR code reader manually

A manual entry is only required if the Camera app is not allowed via the allowlist.

  1. The relevant policy is opened under Devices → Policies. If the version is already published, an editable version is first created via Create new version.
  2. The App compliance configuration is opened. Allowlist — The apps below are allowed is selected under List type.
  3. In the Allowed apps section, Add opens the Select an app dialog. There, the source Manually add app is selected and confirmed with Next.
  4. The Name can be chosen freely. com.apple.barcodesupport.qrcode is entered in the Internal name field, and the entry is applied with Add.
  5. The configuration is saved and the policy is then published.
