Class Lists Shared iPad Managed Accounts

Introduction

The Class Lists for Shared iPads feature in Relution optimizes the login process for students using Managed Apple Accounts. Instead of manually typing in the full, often long Managed Apple ID, students can simply select their class and their name or initials.


Prerequisites

To use this feature, the following conditions must be met:

  • DEP Token: At least one valid DEP token at the respective location.
  • Managed Apple IDs: Availability of Managed Apple Accounts.
  • Compatible Device: An Apple Shared iPad configured via the same DEP token used to manage the Managed Apple Accounts.

Configuration

Follow these steps to activate the class lists:

  1. Open Policies: Navigate to the Policies section in Relution.
  2. Create Policy: Create a new iOS policy or edit an existing one.
  3. Add Configuration: Add the Shared iPad configuration.
  4. Select Classes: Choose the classes you want to enable for login on the Shared iPad.
  5. Completion: After assigning the policy, the available classes will be offered for selection on the iPad lock screen.

Important Troubleshooting Notes

If you encounter issues during login, it is often due to a discrepancy in the account data:

  • Account Alignment: Check the Apple Account stored for the user in Relution.
  • Example of Discrepancies:
    • Account in Relution: student@relution.io
    • Account in Apple School Manager: student@appleid.relution.io
  • Solution: The accounts must match exactly for the class list login to function.

Tip: Test the login manually using the traditional “Sign in to iPad” method. If the credentials work there but not via the class list, there is likely a discrepancy in the stored user data.
