Customer HubSilent app installation
For Relution to install apps on iOS devices without confirmation by the user (silently), the following requirements must be met:
- The devices are in supervised mode, see Supervised Mode / Supervision →.
- Licenses from Apps and Books (VPP in the portal) are available for the app, see Configure VPP →. Alternatively, a user is signed in to the devices with an Apple Account.
If these conditions are met, apps are installed on the devices via Relution without users having to confirm this on the end devices. For Apps and Books apps, Relution automatically assigns a license during distribution: user-based for devices with User Enrollment, device-based otherwise. The app is then sent as a licensed installation, and no Apple Account is requested. Sufficient free Apps and Books licenses must therefore be available.
Sign-in prompt or failed installation
If Relution has no Apps and Books licenses on record for the app, the app is distributed without a license. This is the case if no licenses have been purchased yet, the synchronization with Apple is still pending, no VPP token of the location holding the licenses is available to the organization, or all licenses have been transferred to another location. A prompt to sign in to the App Store may then appear on the devices, see Sign in to iTunes →.
If Relution and the Apple Apps and Books server are not in sync, the synchronization can be triggered manually under Apps → Purchased Apps via Synchronize. The button is disabled while a synchronization is already running, if all VPP tokens have expired, or if all VPP tokens are public and belong to another organization.
