Notifications

Relution for iOS allows the settings for notifications to be preconfigured for individual apps. The Notifications policy configuration is available for selection for this purpose.

The configuration only takes effect on supervised devices and can also be used on Shared iPads. It is not available for devices with User Enrollment (BYOD). One Notifications configuration can be added per policy.

Configuration #

To configure notification settings, an app to which the setting is to be applied must be selected. One or more apps can be added to the list via Add. The sources Relution App Store app, Apple App Store App, iOS System or built-in app and Manually add app are available for this purpose.

Each newly added app initially receives default values: Enable notifications, Show in CarPlay, Show in lock screen, Show in notification center, Enable sounds and Enable badges are enabled, Enable critical alerts is disabled. Alert type is set to Temporary Banner, Grouping type to Automatic, and Preview type remains empty. To adjust the settings, an app is selected in the list and Edit is chosen. The configuration can only be saved once at least one app is in the list.

Enable notifications activates notifications on the device for the corresponding app. If the option is switched off, the remaining options cannot be edited. Show in CarPlay, Show in lock screen and Show in notification center control where notifications are displayed. Under Alert type, None, Temporary Banner (default) or Persistent Banner can be selected.

The options Enable critical alerts, Enable sounds and Enable badges (badge on the app icon) can also be set.

Under Preview type, Always, Unlocked or Never can be selected. If the field remains empty, Relution does not transfer a value and the setting on the device applies (Settings → Notifications → Show Previews). Once a preview type has been selected, it cannot be cleared again.

Under Grouping type, the grouping of the app’s notifications is set: Automatic (default, groups as specified by the app), By app (all notifications of the app in one group) or Off (no grouping).

Multiple policies #

If several policies with the Notifications configuration are assigned to a device, the entries are merged. If there are several entries for the same app, the entry from the policy with the highest priority applies.

Default values for Relution apps #

On supervised devices, Relution automatically transfers notification settings for the apps Relution Agent, Relution Teacher (each including the enterprise variant), Relution Files and Relution Decon, even without a separate Notifications configuration: notifications are enabled and the preview type is set to Unlocked. A separate entry for one of these apps takes precedence over these default values.
