Safari Settings

The “Safari Settings” configuration lets you centrally control the behavior of the Safari browser on managed iOS devices. This includes handling of cookies, the fraud warning, JavaScript, and pop-ups, as well as clearing the browsing history, private browsing, content summarization, and the start page shown when opening a new tab. On macOS devices, only the four last-mentioned options are available — cookies, the fraud warning, JavaScript, and pop-ups cannot be configured there.

Note: This configuration is only available for devices with a Device Enrollment profile (not for User Enrollment/BYOD) and requires at least iOS 26.

Safari Browser Settings

  • Allow Cookies

    • Determines how Safari handles cookies.
      • Always – Safari always allows cookies. (default)
      • From Visited – Safari only allows cookies from websites the user has already visited.
      • From Current Website – Safari only allows cookies from the currently open website.
      • Never – Safari always blocks cookies.

  • Allow Disabling the Fraud Warning

    • When disabled, the system enforces the fraud warning in Safari; users cannot turn it off. Enabled by default.

  • Allow JavaScript

    • When disabled, JavaScript is disabled system-wide in Safari. Enabled by default.

  • Allow Pop-ups

    • When disabled, pop-up windows are disabled system-wide in Safari. Enabled by default.

  • Allow Clearing History

    • When disabled, the browsing history in Safari cannot be cleared. Enabled by default.

  • Allow Private Browsing

    • When disabled, private browsing mode is not available in Safari. Enabled by default.

  • Allow Content Summarization

    • When disabled, automatic content summarization in Safari is disabled. Enabled by default.

  • Start Page (required field)

    • Determines which page is displayed when opening a new tab in Safari.
      • Start Page – Safari uses its default start page; the homepage is disabled. (default)
      • Extension – Safari uses the Safari extension referenced by the specified identifier as the start page; the homepage is disabled. Requires an extension identifier in the format Identifier (TeamIdentifier), e.g. com.example.app (ABCD1234).
      • Home – Safari uses the specified URL both as the start page for new tabs and as the homepage. Requires a homepage URL that must start with https:// or http://.
