Desktop
On this page
With the Desktop configuration for macOS devices, the desktop background is defined by specifying a path to an image file. Unlike the comparable Wallpaper → configuration for iOS and Android devices, no image file is uploaded to or distributed through Relution as part of this policy.
The path entered under Desktop refers to a file that must already exist locally on the macOS device — not a URL. Relution passes this path directly to Apple's native Desktop configuration profile, which only tells the operating system where to look for an existing background image; it does not fetch or install the file itself.
Providing the Image File
Because the referenced file must already be present on the device before the policy is applied, the image itself needs to be distributed separately — for example through a script policy, an installer package, or another file-distribution mechanism that places the file at the configured path beforehand.
