Desktop

With the Desktop configuration for macOS devices, the desktop background is defined by specifying a path to an image file. Unlike the comparable Wallpaper → configuration for iOS, Android and Windows devices, no image file is uploaded to or distributed through Relution as part of this policy.

Settings #

The configuration can be added once per policy and contains a single field in the General section:

• Path to the desktop image to be used: path to the image file on the macOS device, e.g. /Library/Desktop Pictures/Company.jpg. Relution passes the value unchanged into the configuration profile. Placeholders are not replaced in this field. If the field is left empty, a Desktop profile without an image setting is installed.

Providing the Image File #

Because the referenced file must already be present on the device before the policy is applied, the image itself needs to be distributed separately — for example through a script configuration (only for devices with device enrollment, not with User Enrollment), an installer package, or another file-distribution mechanism that places the file at the configured path beforehand.
