Intelligence Settings
The “Intelligence Settings” configuration lets you centrally control Apple Intelligence features on managed macOS devices. The policy allows individual AI-powered features such as the Apple Intelligence Report, Genmoji, Image Playground, and Writing Tools, as well as app-specific Intelligence features in Mail, Notes, and Safari, to be allowed or blocked. In addition, you can enforce that dictation is processed exclusively on the device, without any connection to Apple’s servers. Features such as Image Wand, personalized handwriting results, the Visual Intelligence summary, and forcing on-device only translation are not available on macOS; the same configuration with the full feature set also exists for iOS and visionOS devices.
Note: This configuration requires macOS 26.4 or later and is only available for devices managed through Device Enrollment, not User Enrollment (BYOD).
Intelligence Settings
General settings
- Allow Apple Intelligence Report
- If disabled, the Apple Intelligence Report is disabled on the device. Enabled by default.
- Allow Genmoji
- If disabled, the Genmoji feature is disabled. Enabled by default.
- Allow Image Playground
- If disabled, Image Playground is disabled. Enabled by default.
- Allow Writing Tools
- If disabled, Writing Tools are disabled. Enabled by default.
- Force on-device only dictation
- If enabled, dictation is processed exclusively on the device, without any connection to Apple’s servers. Disabled by default.
- Allow smart replies
- If disabled, smart replies in Mail are disabled. Enabled by default.
- Allow summary
- If disabled, the summary feature in Mail is disabled. Enabled by default.
Notes
- Allow transcription
- If disabled, transcription in Notes is disabled. Enabled by default.
- Allow transcription summary
- If disabled, the summary of transcriptions in Notes is disabled. Enabled by default.
Safari
- Allow summary
- If disabled, the summary feature in Safari is disabled. Enabled by default.
