Mathematical Settings

Starting with version 26.1.0, Relution also provides the Mathematical Settings configuration for devices running macOS 15+.

This policy centrally manages the functions and modes of the Apple Calculator app and adapts them to educational or organizational requirements. Compared to iOS, the macOS Calculator additionally offers a Programmer Mode and input in reverse Polish notation (RPN), which can also be configured here.

Settings for the Apple Calculator App

Basic Mode

  • Add Square Root: Adds a square root button to the basic calculator by replacing the “+/-” button. By default, the square root function is only available in scientific mode. This option makes the square root accessible even if scientific mode is restricted.

Math Notes Mode

  • Enable / Disable: Determines whether Math Notes mode can be used within the Calculator app.

Programmer Mode

  • Enable / Disable: Determines whether Programmer Mode can be used within the Calculator app. Only available on macOS.

Scientific Mode

  • Enable / Disable: Specifies whether the scientific mode of the Calculator app is available.

Global Calculator Input Options

  • Enable Reverse Polish Notation (RPN): Determines whether input in reverse Polish notation can be used. Only available on macOS.
  • Enable Unit Conversion: Allows the use of the built-in unit conversion feature within the app.

System Behavior

Enable Keyboard Suggestions

  • Enable / Disable: Controls whether keyboard suggestions automatically display mathematical solutions.

Enable Math Notes in Other Apps

  • Enable / Disable: Determines whether the Math Notes feature can also be used in other apps (e.g., Notes).
