Actions in device groups
Introduction
With Relution 5.22, it is possible to trigger not only policies but also actions and CRON jobs through membership of device groups. This function will replace the policies in the medium term. Old policies will not be transferred to the new functionality.
Device groups are platform-independent. For this reason, it may not be possible to apply individual actions to certain devices The basic functionality of device groups is explained here: Device groups →
Event-based
- Actions can be applied to the corresponding device either when entering, leaving or in both cases.
- The action can be sent to the device immediately or with a time delay.
CRON-scheduled
Actions can be triggered based on a CRON schedule WIKI CRON →.
At least one time value must be selected. Commas are used to separate time periods, and ranges and step values are accepted.
Minutes: 0 to 59 Hours: 0 to 23 Days of the month: 1 to 31 Month: 1 to 12 Days of the week: 0 to 6
These configurations are directly valid and are applied according to settings
Main action types
After selecting an action, the following types are available:
- Delete device
- Device action
- Notification action
- Change device name
- Update device policy
- Webhook
1. Delete device
Description:
- This action completely removes the device from the Relution administration. All data and settings on the device will be deleted.
- Important: This action cannot be undone. For devices enrolled via KME (Knox Mobile Enrollment), make sure that no profile is assigned in the Samsung Knox Enrollment Portal, as the device will automatically be re-enrolled after deletion (Android only).
Options:
- Do not uninstall the Relution app: yes/no
- Leave Factory Reset Protection (FRP) activated: yes/no
- Also delete the device’s external storage (e.g. SD cards): yes/no
2. Device action
Description:
- Enables various individual actions on the devices.
Note: The actions that are available on which platforms will be displayed after selection.
Subactions:
1. Enable Lost Mode
- Locks the device and enables it to be located. Can be used when a device has been lost.
- Fields: Message, phone number, footnote, email, address, organisation name
2. Disable Lost Mode
- Cancels the ‘Lost Mode’.
3. Reboot device
- Restarts the device.
- Options: Power off, Notify user
4. Refresh device info
- Updates the device information stored in Relution.
5. Alert
- Sounds an alarm on the device.
- Field: Duration (in seconds)
6. Enable or disable bluetooth
- Enables or disables Bluetooth.
- Option: Turn on Bluetooth
7. Scan device
- Starts a scan of the device.
8. Delete local users
- Deletes all local user accounts and data.
- Option: Force account deletion
9.Enable or disable personal hotspot
- Enables or disables the personal hotspot.
- Option: Turn on personal hotspot
10. eSIM Cellular Plan
- Configures an eSIM mobile plan.
- Field: Server URL
11. Remove Shortcut
- Removes a shortcut from the device.
- Fields: Name, URL
12. Request mirroring
- Starts AirPlay playback on an Apple TV or other AirPlay-enabled device.
- Fields: Name, MAC address, scan time (seconds), password
13. Return to Service
- Deletes all data on the device and resets it to the factory settings.
- Option: Keep existing data plan
14. Send file to device
- Sends a file to the device.
- Fields: Select file, directory, do not decompress ZIP archives
15. Wipe device
- Resets the device to factory settings.
- Options: Leave Factory Reset Protection (FRP) enabled, Also delete external memory, Message to user, PIN, Keep existing data plan, Disable Proximity Setup
16. Install Prowise update
- Installs a Prowise update.
- Field: Update
17. Lock device
- Locks the device with the current password.
- Fields: Message, phone number, PIN
18. Add shortcut
- Adds a shortcut to the device.
- Fields: Title, URL, Open in full screen, Upload icon
19. Reset lock passcode
- Resets the device password.
- Field: New password
- Options: Lock immediately, Require input before next reset, Do not ask at boot
20. Reset password (Windows)
- Resets the password of a Windows user account.
- Fields: User name, Password, Repeat password
- Action: Generate example password
21. Shutdown device
- Shut down the device.
22. Stop mirroring
- Stop AirPlay playback.
23. Locate device
- Trigger location of the device.
24. Clear restrictions password
- Removes the Screen Time code.
25. Continue in the device setup assistant
- Continues the device in Setup Assistant.
26. Install media
- Installs media on the device.
- Field: Token selection
27. Remove media
- Removes media from the device.
- Field: Token selection
28. Execute PowerShell script
- Runs a PowerShell script on Windows devices.
29. Log out the user
- Logs off the current user.
30. Execute shell script
- Runs a shell script on devices.
3. Notification Action
Description:
- Sends notifications to device users or other people.
Recipient:
- Notify device user
- Notify other users
Fields: Additional email recipients, message, notification by email, notification by push
4. Change device name
Description:
- Changes the name of the device.
Field: New device name
5. Refresh device policy
Description:
- Updates the policies applied to the device.
6. Webhook
Description:
- Sends a notification to an external service (e.g. another system).
