Custom Device Properties

Under Settings → Custom device properties, five freely nameable free-text fields (Custom 1–5) are available, allowing devices to be enriched with additional information – for example a cost center, location, or included accessories.

Enabling and Naming Fields #

Each of the five fields has its own on/off toggle and an editable label. The label can only be entered once the field is enabled. If an enabled field is saved without a label, it appears everywhere with its default name (e.g. Custom 1). The label is only used for display in the portal; disabling a field hides it again in all views. The values stored on the devices are retained.

Usage #

Enabled fields are available in the following places:

• Device detail view: a dedicated Custom properties card, with values directly editable via the pencil icon (with permission to edit devices).
• Enrollments and auto enrollments: one input field per enabled field in the form and an optional column in the list; the stored values are transferred to the device during enrollment.
• Inventory list: as optional columns that can be shown and as filters with multiple selection from the existing values, see Inventory overview →.
• CSV: export from the device list and the auto enrollment list (columns custom1–custom5); existing devices and auto enrollments are updated with Update via CSV (matched by serial number, column header = configured label or custom1–custom5, empty cells change nothing).
• Dynamic device groups: as a filter criterion, using the label configured here as the display name.
• Placeholders: ${device.custom1} to ${device.custom5}, e.g. in device names, see Advanced placeholders →.
