Text on wallpapers
On this page
The wallpaper configurations for iOS, Android Enterprise and Windows can write a text onto the image, for
example the device name, so that every device identifies itself on screen. Placeholders such as ${device.name}
are replaced for each device. Relution renders the image on the server and delivers the finished picture.
Good to know
- Use PNG or JPEG. Other formats cannot be rendered with text. The device then receives the plain image, or no image at all, depending on the platform.
- No personal data on wallpapers. Windows downloads its wallpaper from a link without any login, so whoever holds the link can download that image. Keep names, email addresses and similar off the wallpaper. iOS and Android Enterprise receive the image through the authenticated device connection.
- The device must reach your server. Windows fetches the image from the external URL of your Relution server, the same address used for enrollment.
- Re-apply the policy from time to time if you have devices that are offline for long periods. Rendered images are kept as long as the policy exists and cleaned up after it is deleted. Re-applying gives every device a current image and link, which also helps after a server certificate or key change.
