Companion & Daemon
The Relution Companion App is available for various platforms. It not only expands functionality but also simplifies the smooth setup of devices. As a connecting element, the app creates a functional bridge between operating systems and the Relution platform.
On macOS devices, this role is handled by the Relution Daemon.
Companion for Android (Legacy)
Android Legacy is an older method for managing Android devices, previously known as “Device Administrator.” For enrollment and configuration of Android Legacy devices, the Relution Companion is essential and is automatically installed on registered devices.
The app not only expands functionality but also provides core Mobile Device Management (MDM) capabilities. This integration allows for seamless management of older Android devices, improving usability and efficiency.
Note: With the introduction of more advanced approaches such as Android Enterprise, the Legacy model is no longer considered the preferred method for managing Android devices.
Companion for Android Enterprise
The Relution Companion for Android Enterprise expands device capabilities with additional features, such as the location tracking of lost devices.
Furthermore, it enables the distribution of certificates to devices via the Relution Portal.
Companion for Windows
The Relution Companion for Windows is an exclusive Windows service that is automatically installed on all Windows devices managed by Relution.
Unlike standard applications, it is not available in the Windows App Store or the Relution App Store. Equipped with administrator rights, the Relution Companion is designed solely for administrators and operates silently in the background, without direct interaction with end users.
When configuring Windows devices, Configuration Service Providers (CSPs) are typically used to provide access to specific Windows system settings. While useful, these CSPs have certain limitations in configuration options.
The Relution Companion for Windows overcomes these limitations by significantly extending the configuration options, allowing for more comprehensive customization.
Companion for Whiteboards
For Android Classic
Thanks to the Relution Companion, it is possible to efficiently manage Android-based whiteboards from different manufacturers. This is done through the manual enrollment of the devices via the Relution Companion.
After enrollment, the whiteboards can be centrally managed through policies and actions in Relution.
The available functionality depends on the endpoints provided by each manufacturer.
A complete overview of all Android Classic integrations is available here→.
For Android Enterprise
Relution also provides the ability to manage interactive whiteboards via Android Enterprise. To use the additional whiteboard features, one of our EDLA extensions is required.
An overview of our EDLA extensions can be found here→.
Daemon for macOS
The Relution Daemon was specifically designed for macOS devices to enable the execution of scripts and the installation of .dmg files. This daemon is automatically installed as soon as a device is enrolled.
