Relution Cloud
Relution offers a powerful cloud solution that operates the software as a virtualized cloud server. This hosting takes place in a GDPR-compliant cloud environment, ensuring the security and protection of all processed data. Automatic updates keep the software up to date and secure at all times. Additionally, the infrastructure guarantees a high availability rate of 99.5% for the Relution platform outside of the maintenance window, ensuring reliable usage at any time.
General information
The following general information applies to the operation of the Relution Cloud.
Maintenance Window
Maintenance of the Relution cloud infrastructure is performed from Mondays at 17:00 until Tuesdays at 4:00 CE(S)T. During this period, temporary limitations or service disruptions may occur.
Relution Updates
Relution updates are announced in advance via the newsletter and are performed on the announced day between 16:00 and 19:00 CE(S)T. No downtime occurs during these updates.
Email notifications
Make sure emails from no-reply@relution.io and no-reply@mail.relution.io can be received. These addresses are used as senders for emails sent by Relution Cloud servers.
Gateway IP Addresses
The gateway addresses which Relution cloud servers use to send requests are available in two ways:
- Via DNS: The IP addresses are published as DNS A records under the FQDN
gateway.<cluster-name>.relution.io, e.g.gateway.eu.relution.iofor theeucluster. Firewalls that support FQDN-based rules can use this hostname directly in their access rules. - As JSON list: The addresses are additionally published at https://repo.relution.io/other/relution-cloud-gateways.json in machine-readable form.
Both sources are updated automatically once addresses are added or removed. If IP-based access control for e.g. LDAP servers is required, the respective source should be queried in regular intervals and the access rules need to be updated. It is recommended to automate this process or to use FQDN-based firewall rules.
Limits und Quotas
See article Limits and Quotas →.
Solution Environments
Relution’s cloud offering is available in two environments to flexibly meet different requirements.
Shared Hosting on live.relution.io
The shared hosting model provides an organization on live.relution.io within a shared server. This variant offers a cost-effective solution for organizations with less complex demands. An account can be created via the “Prices and demo” overview on the relution.io website →.
Dedicated Server
For organizations requiring maximum control and customization, a dedicated server model is available. This exclusive server allows for an independent infrastructure with customization options tailored to specific business needs. Dedicated servers are available at an URL following the pattern <server name>.<cluster name>.relution.io, for example acme.eu.relution.io.
The <server name> must:
- contain at most 20 characters
- contain only lowercase alphanumeric characters or ‘-’
- start with an alphabetic character
- end with an alphanumeric character
Intial setup
For the intial setup of a dedicated cloud server, the following information is required:
- Desired server name, will result in the domain
<server name>.<cluster name>.relution.io - Estimated number of devices to be managed on the server
- Name and email address to be used for the system administrator account
The intial setup is then performed as follows:
- Relution Sales requests creation of the server with the data listed above
- The server is created in the corresponding Relution SaaS cluster
- A notifcation is sent to the customers email address
- A password reset needs to be triggered by someone with access to the system administrator’s email account
- A login has to be performed, and the End User License Agreement (EULA) has to be accepted
- The Data Processing Agreement (DPA) under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has to be digitally signed in Relution
- It is highly recommended to setup Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) → for the system administrator account
As an optional step, an account for the Relution support team → can be created.
Custom Domains for Dedicated Server
A custom domain can be used for dedicated servers. In this case, a DNS CNAME record needs to be configured for the custom domain pointing to <server name>.<cluster name>.relution.io. The custom domain (e.g. relution.customer-name.de) then points to the Relution Cloud instance (e.g. customer-name.eu.relution.io).
Site-to-Site VPN Add-on for Dedicated Server
For the dedicated server variant, the Site-to-Site VPN add-on is also available, enabling secure access to customer-specific infrastructures such as intranet services. This add-on offers the following features:
- Integration of intranet services into a Relution UEM cloud server
- Up to 10 GB traffic per month
- Ensured 99.5% availability
These options allow organizations to expand their IT infrastructure individually and align with their specific needs.
Relution Shield in SaaS Mode
As an additional add-on for dedicated servers, Relution offers Relution Shield →, a powerful SaaS-based extension. With Relution Shield, a road-warrior setup for devices can be implemented, providing a secure and flexible solution for accessing internal resources. This add-on includes:
- Certificate-based access control ensuring high security for device connections
- Compliance checks to verify the security parameters of connected devices
- Utilization of the Site-to-Site Tunnel to access internal organization resources
This add-on is ideal for mobile and remote users who need secure access to internal infrastructure.
