Windows Update

Introduction

Relution lets you centrally control the update behavior of Windows devices. The policy is available starting with Windows 10 version 1607 for the Pro, Enterprise, and Education editions.

Automatic Update

  • Automatic update behavior: automatically install and restart, install at a scheduled time, without user control, notify before scheduling restart, notify before downloading, or turn off entirely.
  • For “at a scheduled time”: update installation frequency (week of the month, starting with version 1709), time and day the update is installed.
  • Scan for app updates from Microsoft Update

General

  • Signature validation for non-Microsoft-signed updates
  • Behavior on metered networks (starting with 1709)
  • Automatic restart notification and period (starting with 1703)
  • Restart warnings and imminent restart warnings (starting with 1703)
  • Automatic maintenance/wake-up (starting with 1903)
  • Allow dual scan (starting with 1709)
  • Deadline grace period (starting with 1903), no auto-reboot during deadline (starting with 1903)
  • WSUS server URL plus an alternate URL
  • Target release version (starting with 1803) and product version (starting with 2004, only effective together with the target release version)

User Interface

Starting with version 1809: allow end users access to Windows Update or the ability to pause updates.

Active Hours

  • Start and end of active hours (0–23), maximum range of 18 hours.

Quality and Feature Updates

  • Auto-restart deadline and pause start date (starting with 1703)
  • Deadline in days (starting with 1903)
  • Deferral period in days for quality updates (0–365 days)
  • For feature updates additionally: uninstall period (starting with 1803)
